Pressure Control Valve

A Pressure Control Valve (also known as a Pressure Regulating Valve or Pressure Relief Valve) is a type of valve used to control or maintain a specific pressure level within a system. It is an essential component in various industries and applications where precise pressure control is crucial to ensure safety, efficiency, and proper functioning of the system.

The Pressure Control Valve operates by responding to changes in the system pressure and adjusting its position or opening to maintain the desired pressure within the set range. There are two primary types of Pressure Control Valves:

Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) or Pressure Regulator:

A Pressure Reducing Valve is used to lower the pressure of the fluid or gas entering the valve to a specified setpoint, regardless of variations in the upstream pressure. It ensures that the downstream pressure remains constant within the predetermined range, providing protection to downstream equipment and maintaining a safe and stable process.

Applications of Pressure Reducing Valves include controlling the pressure of water supply systems, gas distribution networks, pneumatic systems, and various industrial processes.

Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) or Safety Valve:

A Pressure Relief Valve is designed to protect a system or equipment from overpressure situations by automatically opening and discharging excess pressure when the system pressure exceeds a certain limit. Once the pressure returns to the acceptable range, the valve closes to prevent further discharge.

Pressure Relief Valves are commonly used in steam boilers, pressure vessels, pipelines, and other systems where overpressure can pose a risk of damage or safety hazards.
